Isaac Seo (Toronto, Calgary)

Music Director of Toronto Korean Canadian Choir

Canadian pianist and conductor Isaac Yisak, Seo has performed in Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Place des Arts in Montreal, Paganini hall in Italy, Koerner Hall in Toronto and more. Isaac was one of the two Canadian pianists to be invited to compete at the 2005 International Chopin Piano Competition in Poland and 2007 International Queen Elizabeth Competition in Belgium. He is also a prize winner from the International stepping stone competition, International Flame Paris competition, Montreal Symphony Competition OSM, Canadian Music Competition. Isaac was a guest artist at the Orford Art Centre in Quebec and his programes including Chopin, Beethoven and Canadian Composer, Jaque Hetu  was broadcasted on CBC Classical-Radio.

​Isaac has been continuously moving around and educating himself in Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Montreal University, Conservatory de Belgium, Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris then he received Bachelors degree at the Juilliard School then Masters at the Manhattan School of Music. Isaac’s musical mentors are Peter Longworth, Marc Durand, John Perry, Leon Fleisher, Jacques Rouvier, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Evegeny Moguilevsky, Phillip Kawin, Andre Laplante, Anton Kuerti, Alfred Brendel and Martha Argerich. Isaac’s solo piano career has led him tour major halls in Paris, Rome, New York, Belgium, Atri, Toronto, Montreal.

Isaac has adjudicated many music competitions and he has also conducted master classes at the Universities and Conservatories in NYC, Toronto, Montreal, Paris, Rome. Recently, he adjudicated International OYMI competition, and CMC (Canadian Music Competition). He was an assistant-faculty at the Zodiac Music Festival in France and currently working for the University of Toronto and Canadian Music Competition as an accompanist.

 Isaac’s deep passion in teaching piano, led his students to have won over dozens of prizes from piano competitions, including the Juilliard Pre-college concerto competition in NYC, MSM pre-college concerto competition in NYC, Canadian Music Competition in Toronto, Lincoln Center Debut in NYC, Junior-Bachauer in Utah and much more. They have appeared as soloists with orchestras in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Toronto.

 As a conductor, Isaac has been inspired by Maestro Uri Mayer and he is a Choir Director at the St. Timothy Church in Toronto. Isaac will be appearing as a guest conductor with Toronto Korean Canadian Choir and OYMI orchestra. Isaac runs a House – Concert series ‘Encore’ (in Loving Memory of Peter Longworth), where he invites internationally acclaimed guest artists from all over the world to deliver high quality of music to classical music lovers in Toronto.
