Austin is a professional cellist located in Toronto. Born in Taiwan but grew up in Canada, he began his musical journey at the young age of 5. Starting with the piano, he obtained an RCM ARCT Diploma before switching over to the cello. He then went on to University of Toronto where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance under the guidance of famous Canadian Cellist Shauna Rolston. Later he pursued his music studies further in Mannes New School of Music in New York and studied under the brilliant American Cellist Ronald Thomas. There, he has played with the renowned Martha Graham Dance Company for the Rite of Spring and has represented the school of Mannes at the Mannes Sound Festival.
Now back to Toronto, he performs frequently around the city, and teaches a busy studio of private students. He is currently the Assistant Cellist of Ontario Philharmonic and the Principal Cellist for Etobicoke Philharmonic.
